Ingredients

  • ½ cup steel-cut oats with flax and chia (yields about 1 cup cooked)
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tsp butter (or butter alternative)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese (or dairy-free alternative)
  • ⅛ cup powdered sugar
  • Splash of milk (any type: dairy, soy, almond, etc.)

 

Instructions

  1. Cook the Oatmeal:  
    • Follow package instructions: Bring water to a boil, add oats, reduce heat, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Prepare the Cinnamon Mixture:  
    • In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter.
    • Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and warm.
  3. Make the Cream Cheese Drizzle:  
    • In another microwave-safe bowl, warm the cream cheese for 10-15 seconds.
    • Stir in powdered sugar and a splash of milk until smooth.
  4. Assemble:  
    • Divide the cooked oats into two bowls.
    • Drizzle each serving with half of the cinnamon mixture and half of the cream cheese topping.
